October 21 – 28 Day Challenge (and costumes)

starryeyednewsletter

Hey Brave Beauties, are you ready to shake up your everyday ho-hum a bit? This week’s meeting is going to be HUGE! We’ll introduce the 28 Day Challenge, AND dress up in costumes, AND play games, AND make a craft!

What’s this 28 Day Challenge, you say? It’s part of our Starry Eyed theme from MOPS International, and MOPS groups all over the world will be participating in the challenge throughout the year. Each day has an activity for you to complete, either a Truth or a Dare. You can find your daily “assignments” on the 28 Day Challenge page of your Starry Eyed kit (if you haven’t received your kit yet, just download the PDF below). Your kit also contains a workbook called Becoming Starry Eyed: Practices to Explore Wonder, Hope, and Kindness, that has an entry for each day of the challenge. These activities are meant to take us out of our comfort zones, to help us learn more about ourselves, and begin to connect with others in a more meaningful way. As you read through the daily prompts, you may find that some are silly, others will be thought provoking, and a few might make you uncomfortable. If neither the Truth nor the Dare on a particular day fit your current situation, first check the workbook for additional suggestions. Then feel free to adjust the activity, being sure to keep the spirit of the daily challenge. Is it asking you to be brave, or vulnerable, or try something new?  Make the experience yours!

Now what about the costumes? In the spirit of trying something new, we’re having a Decade Dress Up Day! Make a costume inspired by your favorite decade and wear it to the meeting this Friday. You don’t have to be super fancy. Check your closet (or your mother’s) and work with what you have. Go check out Good Will or the Salvation Army if you’re feeling particularly inspired. Why should the kids get all the fun of dressing up? Now it’s our turn!

Reminders:

  • Brunch is being provided by the Aurora Pink, Orion Gold, and Stella Black tables.

  • FUNDRAISER is due at this meeting! Bring your order forms and money! The mama who sells the most calendars will win a $20 Amazon gift card!

  • Be sure to bring your purse with you for one of the games. So mysterious… what could it be?!

  • We’re finishing up pictures for the MOPS Directory, so if you didn’t get your picture taken at the last meeting, be sure to step into Heather McDonough’s “photo booth,” yes, even with your costume!

  • If you have a personal or family business, see Heather M. about putting your info in the Momtrepreneur Directory.
