Clutter free living

The  dreaded C word…clutter. Some of us struggle more with this than others but as mom’s we all use a couple of pointers. Whether its our husbands who refuse to get rid of those old high school yearbooks (seriously?) to a child who must collect every single trinket from Chick-fil-A, we are surrounded by clutter in some form or another. Have you ever found yourself standing in front of the kids playroom and thought, “how? how did it get this bad?” or stood in your closet and thought, “why! why do I still have all 15 bridesmaids dresses hanging in my closet?” If you said yes to either of these questions then this weeks meeting is for you! This Friday will be watching a dvd about clutter free living (cue the angels singing from the heavens).

Not only will be discussing clutter free living we are having our much-anticipated Swap! Yay!! Time to clear out some of that clutter (not trash) and bring it to Mops this Friday. We will have tables labeled so you can put your items out and we can all do a little shopping. It has always been a favorite for the mamas! Anything leftover from our swap will be donated to Coweta Pregnancy Center, a nearby elementary school and St. Vincent de Paul ministry.

Food donations this week will benefit St. Vincent de Paul ministry of St. Mary Magdalene Church. Some of the needed food/non food items: jelly, peanut butter, soup, non-refrigerated milk, canned spaghetti (i.e. ravioli, spaghetti-os), toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, clothes detergent. Most of these items can be purchased at Dollar Tree.

We  will be rotating our tables once again this week so watch for the table numbers when you arrive.

Lastly, we will be holding an online “momtrepreneur” event for all our members who are business owners. Katie Morgan will be taking registrations for this event and sharing more details. Registration will be open until December 1st. This event will take place online December 8th-10th.

Forgiveness. Such a small word with such big implications. It has the power to ruin your day, wreck a relationship but most importantly, it could stall your walk with the Lord. This week our topic is deep, heavy and personal. The Lord says in Ephesians 4:32, “…be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” If that doesn’t stop you in your tracks what will? We have all been in situations where we must forgive or accept forgiveness. How have you handled these situations? Who do you turn to in time of reflection and forgiveness? This week we will have the personal testimony from one of our members, a time of reflection and discussion. Spend some time in prayer about what your response is to forgiving as well as accepting forgiveness.

On a lighter note…we raised over $700 from our Chick-fil-A calendar sale!  Way to go mamas! For those of you who did not get your calendars last meeting, don’t fret – we will have more calendars there to distribute to you.

This is our last meeting where we will be collecting for Back-Pack Buddies and Pop-Top Meals. If you are able to contribute please drop off the items at check-in. Thank you for all the items you have brought in so far for these ministries!

Lastly, our November 17th meeting will be our bi-annual “swap”! This is a great time to bring in all those old toys, clothes and nick-nacks that are taking up space in your home to swap with other mamas. One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. Start packing up things now to move them out. More info to come!

Happy Tuesday Mamas! My gosh it feels like forever since we have all been in the same room together. Not sure about you but I am ready to have an uninterrupted cup of hot coffee! This Friday we have a fantastic opportunity to hear from three professionals in the health field.

We will have Dr. Popple from White Oak Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Justice from Just Us Kids Pediatrics and Cassie Jackson, certified fitness instructor. Ever wonder exactly when to bring your child in for their first teeth cleaning? Or what supplements, if any, should I be giving my toddler? Time to stop Googling and ask the real professionals! After hearing from each person there will be time for Q & A and break out to speak individually to each one.

Celebrating YOU!!!

October 31, 2017

10:00 AM – 12 Noon

Trick or treating in Downtown Newnan

Hey Mom, What’s for Dinner?!

Isn’t that the burning question on everyone’s mind every evening around 5:00 p.m.?  Or maybe the scenario is more like “What in the world am I going to make for dinner that these people will actually eat?!”  Either way, if you’d like some help in the meal planning department, this meeting is for YOU!  We will hear from dietitian Sarah Healy on healthy, kid-friendly (and mom-friendly) meal planning.  We’ve also got a couple other activities planned that will hopefully simplify the transition from talking about meal planning to becoming Mom: The Master Meal Planner!  Can’t wait to talk food with you gals on Friday!

Speaking of food, we will also continue collecting canned goods to support the Alpha Omega Mission Center of First Baptist Church, so grab a few at the store this week!

Also, this week we will shift each table one place so that you get a new view of the room. We will do this periodically so that those table groups at the back get a turn in the front seats 🙂  Be sure to look at the table number displayed in the center of the table before you claim your seat!

At MOPS, we like to celebrate our friends!  Here are the ladies celebrating birthdays and anniversaries in September:

Happy birthday…

Robin Poche

Naomi Karrels

Caitlin Chambers

Lynsey VanNevel

Happy anniversary…

MOPS Kids reminders:

*Please remember to label any items you bring for your child (cups, jacket, bag, etc).

*Please be sure to write down on the sign in sheet any special instructions for your child each time you check in.

*As you are able, please bring in a peanut-free snack to stock our MOPS Kids pantry (e.g. goldfish, teddy grahams, etc.).  You may leave these just outside your child’s room.

Got questions? Email

Got friends? Got 3 AM friends?!

Hi there!  It is almost time for MOPS again!  We hope you enjoyed our kick-off meeting and are planning to come back to join us this Friday at 9:30! This week we will be discussing the topic of friendship, something that is near and dear to all mamas’ hearts! We will have breakfast and coffee (with more seating, so bring a friend!), a fun game then spend some time digging in to the topic of the day.  If you have any questions, please email

We will also begin collecting canned goods for our service project at this meeting.  Bring anything canned that you’d like to donate to our pantry of the month.  This month’s contributions will go to the Alpha Omega Mission Center, a community outreach ministry of First Baptist Church. The center is in great need of all canned goods or non-perishable food items.  We will have a white laundry basket to the left of the welcome table for you to drop your donations into.  And don’t worry if you forget or aren’t able to contribute this week; we’ll also be collecting for the same pantry on 9/29.

YOU can make a difference

How can I help?  This is a question many of us are asking after the recent devastating storms that have hit the southern U.S.  We mamas may not be able to put our boots on the ground in the midst of the devastation (especially with a little one attached to us!), but here are a few organizations you might consider supporting who can be a powerful presence in the storms’ aftermath.  *Please note, MOPS of Newnan is not affiliated with any of these organizations and is not promoting one over another.  These are simply options to help take some of the guess work out of where and how to help.  The article linked here has a list of 40 reputable agencies that have been vetted by the Charity Navigator organization.

2017-18 Kickoff Meeting

It’s finally time!!  MOPS is back in session starting this Friday, September 1st!!  I can almost hear the mom chatter and smell the coffee brewing!  I hope you will join us at 9:30 for a fun morning with friends.  We will have breakfast, play some games, give away some cool prizes and learn a little about what MOPS is going to be about this year–GOOD stuff! There are some helpful hints below, but you can always email with any questions:  Can’t wait to see you all Friday morning!

Helpful hints:

Childcare opens at 9:15 a.m. You will need to fill out a short registration form for each of your children.  Someone will be there to help you figure out who goes where.

We provide a peanut-free snack for the children, but feel free to provide a snack for your child if he/she has special dietary needs; just make sure it is peanut-free.

Please bring a labeled drink or sippy cup for your child to use during snack time.  Please also make sure any other gear your child brings (bag, jacket, etc) is labeled for easy identification at pick-up.

COME AS YOU ARE!! You do not need to bring a thing for yourself and there is no dress code 🙂  The forecast calls for rain, so feel free to sport a bun and rain boots!

Invite a friend!
