Got friends? Got 3 AM friends?!

Hi there!  It is almost time for MOPS again!  We hope you enjoyed our kick-off meeting and are planning to come back to join us this Friday at 9:30! This week we will be discussing the topic of friendship, something that is near and dear to all mamas’ hearts! We will have breakfast and coffee (with more seating, so bring a friend!), a fun game then spend some time digging in to the topic of the day.  If you have any questions, please email mopsofnewnan@yahoo.com.

We will also begin collecting canned goods for our service project at this meeting.  Bring anything canned that you’d like to donate to our pantry of the month.  This month’s contributions will go to the Alpha Omega Mission Center, a community outreach ministry of First Baptist Church. The center is in great need of all canned goods or non-perishable food items.  We will have a white laundry basket to the left of the welcome table for you to drop your donations into.  And don’t worry if you forget or aren’t able to contribute this week; we’ll also be collecting for the same pantry on 9/29.

YOU can make a difference

How can I help?  This is a question many of us are asking after the recent devastating storms that have hit the southern U.S.  We mamas may not be able to put our boots on the ground in the midst of the devastation (especially with a little one attached to us!), but here are a few organizations you might consider supporting who can be a powerful presence in the storms’ aftermath.  *Please note, MOPS of Newnan is not affiliated with any of these organizations and is not promoting one over another.  These are simply options to help take some of the guess work out of where and how to help.  The article linked here has a list of 40 reputable agencies that have been vetted by the Charity Navigator organization.

2017-18 Kickoff Meeting

It’s finally time!!  MOPS is back in session starting this Friday, September 1st!!  I can almost hear the mom chatter and smell the coffee brewing!  I hope you will join us at 9:30 for a fun morning with friends.  We will have breakfast, play some games, give away some cool prizes and learn a little about what MOPS is going to be about this year–GOOD stuff! There are some helpful hints below, but you can always email with any questions: mopsofnewnan@yahoo.com.  Can’t wait to see you all Friday morning!

Helpful hints:

Childcare opens at 9:15 a.m. You will need to fill out a short registration form for each of your children.  Someone will be there to help you figure out who goes where.

We provide a peanut-free snack for the children, but feel free to provide a snack for your child if he/she has special dietary needs; just make sure it is peanut-free.

Please bring a labeled drink or sippy cup for your child to use during snack time.  Please also make sure any other gear your child brings (bag, jacket, etc) is labeled for easy identification at pick-up.

COME AS YOU ARE!! You do not need to bring a thing for yourself and there is no dress code 🙂  The forecast calls for rain, so feel free to sport a bun and rain boots!

Invite a friend!

May 5 & 6 – Banquet and RACE for the Orphans

starryeyednewsletter

The last events for this MOPS year are coming up this weekend! First up is the MOPS & POPS Banquet on Friday, May 5, 6-8 pm. If you still need tickets, please contact your table leader ASAP! Childcare drop-off begins at 5:45. Only the adults are being fed a meal, so you’ll need to feed your children before you come. Dress is casual to go with our theme, Camping Under the Stars!

2017 Banquet Invitation

The next morning, Saturday, May 6, is the RACE for the Orphans. This is the culminating event for the service project we’ve been supporting all year. The deadline to register is Thursday, May 4, and you can complete it all online at this link. If you made a MOPS of Newnan shirt at the last meeting, remember to wear it on Saturday!

We’ll take the rest of May off, and then summer activities will begin in June (more to come on that, soon). Regular meetings will resume in September with the new theme, Free Indeed!

April 21 – RACE, Swap, and Testimony

starryeyednewsletter

Hey there Starry Eyed Sisters! It’s our last regular meeting of the year, and it’s jam packed with MOPSy goodness! First up, we’ll be decorating shirts for us to wear to the RACE for the Orphans (or any other time, too). You provide the white shirt and MOPS will provide the paint and stencils. We’ll also have our spring swap, so bring in all of those items you’ve been wanting to leave your house, and take some new treasures home! Last, we’ll hear testimonies from some of our mamas about how MOPS has made a difference in their lives. You may have to crack open that tiny pack of tissues that sits on your table.

2017 Banquet Invitation

The MOPS banquet is our last hoorah for the year and will be held Friday, May 5. This is an evening event that requires a ticket to cover the cost of your meal. Many ladies bring their husbands to enjoy the night, and just as many come solo. There will be childcare during the banquet, so this will be a fun night out! Some of the things we have planned are a photo booth, mixer games, and a s’mores station.

But wait, there’s more! During the summer you won’t even have time to miss MOPS, because there’s a Bible study and MOPS play dates to attend! Our summer activities are open to the community, which means we’d love for you to bring a friend. There will be lots of information about summer activities on your table this week, so grab a flyer to stick on your fridge.

Reminders:

  • Our last fundraiser is a Partner’s Pizza Night this Tuesday, April 18, from 4-8:30 PM. Please encourage your friends and family to dine in or pick up and MOPS will receive a percentage of the profits. This fundraiser will help cover our end of year expenses.

  • Brunch is being provided by the Moon Silver and Big Dipper Light Blue tables.

  • Bring a WHITE shirt to paint.

  • Bring your stuff to SWAP!

  • Banquet tickets will be on sale this Friday and are $10 per person.

Looking Ahead:

  • Banquet is Friday, May 5, from 6-8 PM at First Baptist. Tickets are $10 per person.

  • RACE for the Orphans is Saturday, May 6!

  • Summer activities start in June!

starryeyednewsletter

Hello, Movement Mavens! Spring fever is in the air, which means it’s time for our health and fitness meeting. This year we’re going to try something different with a walking scavenger hunt around the courthouse square! This means you need to wear your walking shoes and comfortable clothes that you can move in. And don’t forget, this is the meeting where we get our special breakfast, bagels and schmear from Einstein Brothers. We’ll fuel up and then burn it all off!

Reminders:

  • Brunch is being provided by the Aurora Pink and and Orion Gold tables.

  • Wear your comfy clothes and walking shoes.

  • Have you registered to RACE for the Orphans on Saturday, May 6? You can do this online at the RACE for the Orphans website. If you register by March 31, you’ll be entered into a drawing for free tickets to the MOPS and Pops Banquet in May!

  • We have three meetings left this year: March 3, March 31, and April 21.

  • We will finish our year with the MOPS and Pops Banquet on May 5! Instead of meeting in the morning, the banquet is a dinner in the evening and you can bring your spouse.
